An ambient air vaporizer (gasifier) converts liquefied gas from a cryogenic tank into gas at the required pressure using only the heat of the surrounding air — no electricity or steam. Finned aluminium heat-exchange tubes absorb heat from the atmosphere, and the gas leaves at close to ambient temperature.

How we select the equipment

We select the vaporizer by gas type, required capacity (50–2000 kg/h), working pressure and operating conditions: continuous or peak consumption, winter temperatures, humidity and icing. For round-the-clock operation we design a duty/standby pair with automatic switch-over so the unit can defrost.

Scope of supply

  • Ambient vaporizer 50–2000 kg/h for LIN, LOX or LAR
  • Pressure regulator and safety valves at the outlet
  • Automatic duty/standby switch-over (optional)
  • Installation and tie-in to the tank and pipeline

Frequently asked questions

Why does the vaporizer ice up and what to do about it?

Frost is normal: moisture from the air freezes on the cold fins. Once the ice layer gets thick, heat transfer drops and the outlet gas gets too cold. The standard solution is two vaporizers working in turn (e.g. 8–12 hours each) or a unit sized with a reserve for continuous duty.

Can one vaporizer be used for different gases?

Nitrogen and argon vaporizers are interchangeable. Oxygen service requires a degreased, oxygen-clean unit, so an LOX vaporizer must be specified as such from the start.
